Troubleshooting 2016 Aliner Expedition With No Running Lights
Question:
I have an Aliner Expeditionhad a friend install a backup camera, he spliced into the power for the R rear running light to power the camerashould have worked, but when we hooked up to the TV after installationNO running lights. Did have brake and turn signals. Connector at TV has power. Did not work even when he unhooked camera and put back the way it was. He thinks may be a ground or fuse issue. I cant seem to find any schematics to even know where to look for a fuse for this if it exists or where the wires are grounded. Can you help me??

It does sound like you were drawing too much power on that running light wire. You will want to check the fuses in your towing vehicle as this is most likely the issue. The owners manual should be able to help you out. There is a chance it could be a ground issue, so you will want to trace your trailer ground wire from the connection to the frame to ensure you have a corrosion and rust free connection to your trailer frame. This should be bare metal to metal.
I recommend running these accessories off of a 12V power wire # 10-1-1 along with a 40 amp circuit breaker like # 9510. If you have a 4-way flat connector, you can use the Tow Ready 4 Pole to 5 Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter # 20036 to add this to your vehicle side wiring. You can use the Hopkins Endurance 5-Way Flat Trailer Connector - Trailer End - Ergonomic Design # HM47910 for the trailer side.
If you already have a 7-way, then you will just tap into the 12V wire instead of the running lights.
If this doesn't solve your issue, we can do more troubleshooting.
