How to Bypass TIPM on A 2006 Dodge Ram Pick-Up With a Factory 7-Way Connector

Question:

How can I bypass the tipm so I can get Trl. Lights, turn and brake lights working? Lost turn signals and brake lights still have marker lights. Been fighting this issue for 3 weeks now. Thanks

You are not the first person with this problem and we do have a solution. If you've shorted out the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module), you may have to take it to a dealer to be reflashed or replaced, which can be costly.

In your situation, I recommend installing the # 119250KIT which includes circuit protection and ends in a 4-Way trailer connector. This kit uses the vehicle circuitry only as a trigger and uses the vehicle battery to actually power the trailer lighting. Only 0.5 milliamps are needed from the vehicle's circuitry to trigger the brake, turn and tail lights. This minimal draw from your Ram's tail light circuitry prevents the likelihood of shorts and other wiring damage.

Then you will need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install a brake controller like # 90195. I recommend using our Brake Controller Install Kit, part # ETBC7, which gives you everything you need to convert to a 7-way.

In order to totally bypass your TIPM, you will need to ignore your factory 7-way and use the new 7-way provided in the # ETBC7 kit.
