Weight Distribution Recommendation for a 2006 Keystone Travel Trailer
Question:
Hi, I just bought a Keystone RV1 travel trailer with a v-nose and im having problems finding the right weight distribution system for it. Standard hitch sway bars dont fit because of the body being to far ahead on the tongue and I cant lift the hook up for the torsion bars. any suggestions this is a 2006

There is a solution for a situation like your where the trailer frame is not long enough or blocked where the spring bars of a weight distribution system need to hang. What you can do is replace the frame-top type hangers with ones that bolt through the side, # RP58305. These fit frames that are no wider than 2-1/4 inches.
With these installed, you would use the trailer jack to lift truck and trailer to hand the spring bars, rather than the tool used with the lift brackets.
Based on the research I did, the 2006 Keystone you have weighs in at about 7,000 pounds. You will want a weight distribution system with a tongue weight capacity range that covers 10 to 15 percent of the gross trailer weight.
I recommend the Reese Weight Distribution Kit, # RP66542. This is a simple system that comes with the required shank. You would just need a properly sized ball like # 19286 (2-5/16 inch diameter) or # A-90 (2 inch diameter).
