Weight Distribution System Recommendation for Trailer with 750 lbs Tongue Weight

Question:

I have a 2011 Toyota Tacoma, TRD Offroad, V-6, automatic, w/ Tow Package and 2-1/2inch X 2-1/2inch receiver. A Tekonsha P3 Electronic Brake Control is installed. I have a 79X18, Trailer, 2 3500 lb axles, empty wt 1550 lbs, available tow weight 5450 lbs. Empty trailer tongue weight 242 lbs. Empty trailer, hooked to Tacoma rear is empty, using ball mount with 4inch trailer is almost spot on level, Squats 11/16. I will be towing, my 1969 Camaro, weight 3295 lbs I have not had the trailer loaded with the Camaro, hooked to the Tacoma. I plan to position the Camaro on the trailer, where-by, I think, the max tongue wt will be 750 lbs 458 lbs above empty tongue wt. I would like to run a Trunion WD hitch, adjustable ball mount with shank pin size 2inch X 2, for, 2-1/2inch X 2-1/2inch receiver. Please advise which WD hitch kit Trunion, or, Round with adjustable ball mount and shank pin size 2inch X 2, part number, I should run!!! Thank you for your time and professional help.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

Since you listed your tongue weight being right at 750 lbs the best trunnion setup we have would be the part # RP66084 which has a tongue weight range of 600-1,200 lbs and features only sway control that works to fight sway before it starts.

For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.
