What Are the Best Non-Roof Bike Rack Options For a 2017 Mazda 3 Hatchback?
Question:
Hi. Would you have a multi 2 bike carrier for the above vehicle which is not mounted on the roof?

Your best option if you're wanting a bike rack that is not roof-mounted for this vehicle is either a trunk mounted or hitch mounted system.
If you're interested in a hitch mounted system, you'll want to pick a trailer hitch like the Draw-Tite Class I Sport Frame Receiver Hitch, part # 24914. This will allow you to attach any Class I hitch bike rack behind your vehicle, These racks only carry up to 2 bikes, making this a solution best suited if you're looking to add flexibility to your vehicle. You can then select from any of the Class I hitch mounted bike racks we offer. I've included a link to that category below so you can see all of your options.
I recommend the Thule Camber, part # TH9058. This is an efficient rack that offers anti-sway capabilities as well as the ability to tilt-away from your vehicle, allowing for access to the hatchback while it is attached and loaded. It also folds up and out of the way so that you can store it on your vehicle in a garage or parking space without worry.
If you would rather have a trunk-mounted system, you'd want a rack like the Thule Passage 2-Bike Carrier, Part # TH910XT. This rack offers many of the same benefits as the hitch mounted Thule Vertex 2, but doubles down on storage and flexibility, allowing it to be easily removed from your vehicle if you don't need to be hauling bikes around. It also offers a full compliment of anti-sway cradles, limiting the risk of damage to your bikes or vehicle by bumps and turns.
For either, I'd recommend a cable lock like the 10' Cable Lock, part # e98891. This adds security to your rig and deters theft. You can also add a Curt Support Strap, part # 18050 to help lock down the rig and add stability to your rack.
Finally, if you are intending on carrying any step through or aggressive (BMX or Mountain) style bikes, I'd recommend a Thule Adapter Bar, part # TH982XT to help level out the bike and prevent one of its wheels from potentially impacting the ground because it is hanging too low.
I've included videos of both of these racks as well as an installation video for the hitch so you can get an idea of how the installation of these products works.
