Will Backing Plates be Needed When Installing Titan Disc Brake Kit on Lippert 3500 Lbs Axles
Question:
Have a 2016 Jacyco travel trailer with two 3500 Lbs Lippert axles with springs. I have read that some people had to weld the backer plate. Will this be necessary for me?

The Titan Disc Brake Kit and BrakeRite Electric-Hydraulic Actuator - Tandem, 3,500-lb Axle, # T4843800, include caliper mounting brackets that are designed to mount to the 4 bolt brake flanges that are usually already on your axles.
However, in some instances, these flanges may not be on the axle. In these cases, a brake mounting flange, like # 4-35, will have to be welded on to the axle to allow the caliper brackets to be mounted.
It is recommended that brake flanges should be installed and welded to the axle by a certified welder.
I have linked an article that will explains all the items that you will need when converting your current trailer brakes to electric over hydraulic disc brakes for you to review.
