To convert the 4-way connector to a 7-way on your 2011 Toyota FJ Cruiser, you could just install the item you selected, Adapter 4 Pole to 7 Pole, part # 37185, and just connect the 4-way, the Black power wire and White ground wire of part # 37185. Since the Tekonsha Prodigy RF Brake Controller, part # 90250, is wireless, it only needs the Black wire, which is a 12 volt power supply. The light functions of the trailer will be connected through your existing 4-way which will plug into the back of part # 37185.
You will need to connect the Black wire to the positive battery terminal via a 40 amp circuit breaker, part # PK54540. You will need to use 10 Gauge Blue Primary Wire, part # 10-1-1, which is sold by the foot.
The other option would be to wire your FJ Cruiser as if you were going to install a traditional brake controller. To do so you would need to install the Brake Controller 7 and 4 Way Installation Kit. Wiring your FJ Cruiser with part # ETBC7 would allow you to install a traditional brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885. With a brake controller on your vehicle, you will be able to tow other trailers with brakes.
To install part # ETBC7, begin by plugging in your 4-way connector into part # ETBC7 and then connect the remaining wires. The White wire is the ground and should be connected to the frame of vehicle. The Black wire will be connected to the Black wire inside the duplex cable and ran to front of vehicle and connected to the positive battery terminal via included 40 amp circuit breaker. The Blue wire will be connected to the White wire inside the duplex cable, and ran to the front of the vehicle and later will be connected to the brake controller. The Purple wire can be connected to the reverse lights if the trailer has reverse lights or can be taped off and tied out of the way if not being used.
I have linked instructions for installing the Brake Controller 7 and 4 Way Installation Kit, part # ETBC7. Also linked is an FAQ on wiring.
