Troubleshooting Turn Signal Lighting Issues On 2014 Forest River 29 Foot Trailer

Question:

We have a 2014 Forest River 29foot camper. When we plug the lights into the truck we have taillights, brake lights and clearance markers. When we turn either turn signal on all the exterior lights start blinking. What in the world could be going on.

Your 2014 Forest River 29 foot camper has one of two issues. It may have a bad ground wire either on the camper itself or on the vehicle side of the connection. I recommend checking your ground wire connections for corrosion, rust, and debris to ensure you have a bare metal to metal connection. I also recommend checking your trailer connections and cleaning them as a little corrosion can also cause this. Then use some dielectric grease like # 11755 to help with the electrical connection and help prevent future corrosion by keeping moisture and debris out of your connections.

If this is a new camper for you and it has LED lighting, you may be getting hyper-flashing caused by your system not seeing enough of a load resistance on your turn signal wiring. If this is the case, I recommend the Trailer Connector Adapter w/ Lamp-Out Sensor Bypass - 7-Way RV to 7-Way RV - Vehicle End # 20142. This adapter has internal load resistors to solve that issue.
