Will The Equa- Flex or E-Z Flex Equalizers Increase the Height of My Dutchman Kodiak Trailer?
Question:
I have a 2016 Kodiak 27rbsl and would like to replace the equalizer with either the Equa-Flex or Dexter E-Z Flex. The trailer has 2 3500# Lippert Axles but the existing equalizer is 7 3/4inch long and 2 3/4inch high to bolt centers. The wheelbase is 35. Most 7 3/4inch equalizers say the are for 7000# axles. One other problem I have is there is only is that I only have 2 3/4inch clearance from the top of the tire to the floor and is has hit on occasion. What would you recommend?

Your current clearance measurement is concerning. You should have about 4.5 inches from the top of your tire to the floor in order for you to have adequate clearance from bumps when traveling.
Either the Lippert Equa-Flex ,part # LC279688, or the Dexter E-Z Flex, part # K71-653-00, will work for your trailer, even though they are rated for heavier weights. But increasing the height of the equalizers alone would not be sufficient. You would also need to increase the height of your spring hangers equal to the amount of extra height gained by the new equalizers.
If your main goal is to increase the height of your trailer, there is another option. If your leaf springs are currently mounted below the axles (which most are) you can use an over/under kit to mount them above the axles. This will provide more height overall. We offer 2 over/under kits, part # K71-384-00 for 2 3/8 inch axles and part # K71-385-00 for 3 inch axles.
If you decide to go with a new equalizer and change the hangers, I have included a link to our hanger main page for you.
