Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan for Installing Yakima LongHaul
Question:
We have a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan with stowandgo seating. Looking to add a hitch and then a bike rack. On Curt #13389 the place where it would bolt in is VERY rusty on our van. Not just the bolts but the flat part under the bolts too. Will that be an issue? I could send a picture of it. Also looking at Yakima LongHaul. Would there be enough clearance between the van and the bikes with the trailer hitch 4 inches behind outer edge of bumper? Thanks!

If it's just surface rust you'd be fine, but if you are seeing rust through the entire frame of your vehicle then it's not going to be safe to attach a hitch there. I'll take a look at a picture if you have it and see if I can tell. You might also take the vehicle to a mechanic close to you have them inspect it since you can only see so much with a picture.
The hitch you'd need for your 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan with stow n go seats is the Draw-Tite part # 75305. This hitch is preferred over the Curt you mentioned as it does not require a stabilizer strap with bike racks like the Curt does.
The Yakima part # Y02476 would easily fit on this hitch and would clear the rear bumper.
