Troubleshooting Self-Adjusting Brakes That Do Not Adjust
Question:
I have been trying to get the brakes on this trailer to work as well as the brakes on my old trailer. The brakes have been set up 4 times in 7000 miles. It does not matter how tight I set them up they seem to back themselves off. When I set them up fairly tight they still will no lck up at25 mph.I am wondering if there is something different with these self adjusting brakes or could it been an installation problem.

I would start off by checking the installation. Check to make sure that the Electric Trailer Brake Assembly # AKEBRK-35L-SA for the Left Hand side is installed on the driver side of your trailer and that the Electric Trailer Brake Assembly # AKEBRK-35R-SA for the Right Hand side is installed on the passenger side of your trailer.
They came with a sticker on them that indicated which side each should be installed on, but if you cannot find the sticker then you will simply need to make sure that the shorter shoe pad is pointed towards the front of the trailer. That is true for both sides.
If you double check this and you have installed them correctly let me know and I will be happy to help you troubleshoot further.
