Choosing the Correct Trailer Ball Mount for a 2004 Jeep Liberty
Question:
Will this ball mount work on my 2004 Jeep Liberty? Will it clear the spare tire to hook up up trailer?

What you will want to do is measure from the center of the hitch pin hole out to the distance required to clear the spare tire on the 2004 Jeep Liberty. If that distance is less than 12-5/8 inches, and your Liberty has a 2-inch receiver, then the Curt Ball Mount, # D-26, will work.
If you need even more clearance than that, we do have longer ball mounts, like the Brophy, #EA40, which measures 14-5/8 inches from hitch pin hole to center of ball hole.
For most applications, a standard-length ball mount will offer enough clearance to couple a trailer to the ball, even if there is a spare tire mounted at the rear of the vehicle. Unless the trailer as a very short tongue or the spare is mounted directly above the hitch, using a standard fixed ball mount, like # AMSC2, would most likely work fine. Ball mount # AMSC2 measures 9-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to center of the ball hole.
I have included a link to our ball mount FAQ article. It covers the various types of ball mounts along with choosing the best option for your application.
