Recommend Hanger Kit For A 3,500 Lb. Tandem Axle Car Hauler
Question:
I have a 12 foot utility trailer. I will be installing two Dexter 3500# axles. They came with leaf springs installed. L. Springs are one and three qaurter inch wide. I will be using either 205/75R/14 or 205/75R/15. What H. Kit do I need? I will be fabricating my own fenders to fit. Just want the correct kit so I have good spacing to allow suspension to work properly. This trailer will be used as a small car/ATV hauler. My thoughts were the APT3 hanger kit. Wasnt sure if it would work with the 15 inch tires. Heck I not sure what diameter to use. I am trying to make it like the 12 foot uhaul car hauler witch uses 205/75R/14. Please If you are truly educated in the information I am looking for give me what you would do if this was your trailer. Please dont send me to look at e trailer information page. Thanks for your time.

If this was my personal trailer. I would first start with the trailer's axles. As you mentioned a need for 3,500 lbs axles, I recommend using the Trailer Axle w/ Electric Brakes part # e43SR. In addition to the dual Dexter axles and 1-3/4" leaf springs like the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles part # e54SR, I recommend going with the Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs part # APT5. I recommend going with this hanger kit as it will provide you with a 1-3/4" taller hanger that you may need for clearance issues in comparison to the Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs part # APT3.
For a set of wheels and tires on the trailer, I recommend going with the Provider ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 15" White Mod Wheel part # TA47VR as these will work well for you. If you do not already have a 7-way trailer connector, I recommend using the 7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector part # H20046.
I have attached a review video for each of theses products for you.
