When trying to decide on a proper weight distribution (WD) system for your towing rig, you will need to know the total tongue weight (TTW) of your set-up. The total tongue weight will be a fully loaded ready to tow trailer, plus any weight located behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. You want to use a system where your total tongue weight will fall in between the WD system's tongue weight range. I have attached an article that will explain how to find the TTW of your towing rig.
Once you have found your total tongue weight, you will be able to decided on the correct system for your towing application.
As an example, since your GVWR is almost 5,000 lbs and tongue weight typically is 10 to 15 percent of the total weight, then the trailer tongue weight will be between 500 to 750 lbs. Then if you are carrying around 100 lbs of cargo at the rear axle, then the TTW will be 600 to 850 lbs.
When determining a WD system, you want to pick one that will fall within in your TTW range. In this example, you will want a system that will fall between 600 to 850 lbs.
The Equal-I-Zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control, # EQ37100ET, would work great within this tongue weight range. The Equal-I-Zer system will evenly distribute weight between all axles and at the same time will work to limit side-to-side trailer sway.
I have attached a link that will display all weight distribution systems that we carry for you to review once you have found your TTW. I also included an article on general information on WD and videos on the Equal-I-Zer system for your to review.
