Ideally, you would buy your truck with the factory rail kit already installed. And to be honest, I recommend the long bed since you said you are going to tow a fifth wheel or gooseneck trailer. An 8 ft bed lets you make sharp turns when towing with no issue for clearance.

If you purchase a short bed with the factory rail kit, and you want to tow a gooseneck trailer, I recommend The Curt Ball and Safety Chain Loops Kit # C60618. This kit comes with a ball with an easy-to-use lever and ball-bearing locking system, rubber ball cover, 2 safety-chain loops, and storage case.

If you do not have a factory rail kit and you have the short bed I recommend the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # BWGNRK1384. I have attached a link to an installation video for this hitch.

If you want to tow a fifth wheel trailer and you have the short bed with the factory rails I recommend the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # BWRVK3670. This drops in the four receiver pucks that are built into the factory rails. When you are not towing you have full access to your truck bed.

If you do not have the factory rail kit I recommend the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # BWRVK3400-5W. The underbed installation kit I recommend is part # BWGNRK1384-5W.

If you decide to go with an 8 foot bed, let me know and I will be glad to make some recommendations that will work for you.

If you need a 7-way trailer connector in the bed of your truck I recommend part # C56000.
