Measuring Spindles to Find Compatible Hub/Drum

Question:

I have a single axle tilt trailer with vintage Dexstar 15 inch wheels. The axle has a mounting plate for brakes. Is there a replacement drum available to fit the existing axle that will use a 5 hole pattern or 6 hole pattern standard wheel ? The existing hub has an LM48546 Inner Bearing and an L44649 outer bearing.

Thank you for providing the bearing numbers for your tilt trailer's hubs.

We do not have any type of hub that uses inner bearing LM48546 and I could not even find data on this part number. You may want to re-check it since the part numbers stamped into bearings can sometimes be tough to read. We do have hubs that use bearing # L44649 as inner, outer or as both inner and outer bearings.

We can also check for a hub/drum to fit your spindles by using the spindle dimensions at the points where the bearings ride. Please refer to the linked diagram. Use a precision digital caliper to measure your spindles at points C and D as shown. You need to measure to the nearest thousandth of an inch, such as 1.234-inches. With that information we can check for a hub whose bearings will fit.

If none are available you can install a new axle. We offer both beam axles and universal-fit axle-less suspensions from Timbren, such as # A35RS545E.
