Recommending a Hub Assembly for a 4 x 8 Trailer

Question:

I need a replacement hub assembly and I cant figure out which one will fit on my axle spindle. The bolt pattern is 5 on 4.5, the axle is 60 inches from hub face and 48 inches from spring center. The bearings are L44643. The spindle is 4-1/16 inches long, and I measured 63/64 inch diameter the entire length, threaded at the end. I measured the castle nut just to make sure and the inside dimensions of the castle nut are 1 inch. The existing hubs seem like cast iron, very heavy, and the trailer came with 12 inch tires but I would like to switch to 8 inch because it is a little trailer, only 4 x 8. I'm interested in an entire assembly, as easy to install as possible, preferably galvanized since the trailer sits outside. Thank you very much for your help.

Thank you for taking the time to make all those measurements, it is a big help. Based on the info you provided, you will need the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,000-lb Axles # AKIHUB-545-2-G-1K. This assembly has a galvanized finish and can fit 8 inch to 12 inch wheels to accommodate your 4 x 8 trailer.

Since you would like to switch to a smaller wheel and tire, I recommend taking a look at the Kenda 5.70-8 Bias Trailer Tire with 8" Galvanized Wheel # AM30110. The 8-inch wheel fits your 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern, and has a maximum load capacity of 715 lbs at 50 psi per tire, which should be more than enough for your 4 x 8 trailer.

I have included links to a pair of video reviews about these products for you to take a look at.
