As you alluded to in your question, the most important factor to consider when choosing a weight distribution system is the total tongue weight of your setup. This will include both the loaded tongue weight of the trailer, along with any added weight coming from behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. Ideally, you will want this number to fall around the middle of the system's tongue weight capacity range.
Even though you are not sure of the trailer's tongue weight, we can make some estimates using the total loaded weight of the trailer that you provided. A trailer's tongue weight should be 10-15% of its total weight. With this in mind, we can estimate that your 10,000 pound fully loaded trailer will have a tongue weight of 1,000 to 1,500 pounds. I recommend looking at a tongue weight scale like the # e99044 in order to verify the trailer's loaded tongue weight.
Using this estimate, I recommend looking at a system like the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System # RP66130. This system has a tongue weight capacity of 800 to 1,500 pounds and will do a great job of evenly distributing the weight over the axles of your trailer and tow vehicle. It features self-adjusting, self-centering sway control that will work to hold the trailer steady during crosswinds and cornering. You will just need to add a the adjustable shank with # RP54970 and a hitch ball like the 2-5/16 inch # C40030 or the 2 inch # A-90.
I have attached a video demonstration on this system as well as an FAQ article that you might find helpful.
