Recommended 5.30-12 Tires With Load Rating Of D

Question:

Hi folks. Im looking at tires mounted on wheels for my Livin Lite Quicksilver 10.0 pop up camper. GVWR is 1500. It came with 5.30-12 tires in load range C with 5-lug wheels. Would it be worthwhile to step up to load range D? Also, what PSI do you recommend? Thanks!

Moving up a higher load range will not only increase your load capacity, but will also increase the sidewall ply strength, so you will be less likely to have a blow out. I recommend the Kenda 5.30-12 Bias Trailer Tire with 12" White Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range D # AM30859 for your application or the galvanized wheel # AM30861. These combinations use the same tire which is rated for 1,250 lb capacity at 105 psi. You want to always run trailer tires at their max psi when inflated while cold.

@Rene Do you mean larger as in wider or larger as in taller? Do you mean tire only, or do you need wheels and tires? If you have Kenda 5.3-12 tires currently, that means your inside tire diameter (and therefore wheel size) is 12" diameter X 4 inch wide at the bead. This tire is 21.9 inches outer diameter. If you want to go up to a 13" wheel you can use the Kenda/Karrier # AM31994 which will have a 24.1 inch outer diameter. Just make sure these will fit in your fender well.
