Question:
Bull dog 190 searies side winder jack what would cause the jack to bind and not allow the center to not turn? it has sheared off the center pin from the handle. i know i can get a replacement part for this. but the bear on the screw jack will not turn more than a fraction of a turn in either direction. is there a fix for this or do i need to replace the entire jack?

There can be many reasons a trailer jack might bind and cause the center pin to be sheared off from the handle. The more common causes is if the jack is overloaded, if the lower inner tube is bent, or if debris has gotten into the gears or bearing.
To determine if you can just replace the inner parts and use your existing jack, you will want to inspect the whole jack to make sure everything is structurally sound and the lower tube is not bent. If the lower tube is bent I would recommend to replace the entire jack, because if the lower tube got bent it is possible the upper tube could be damaged also.
You will want to look on your jack and find out what size Bulldog 190 series jack you have. The Bulldog 190 series sidewind jack comes in a 8,000-lb capacity size or a 7,000-lb capacity size.
The Bulldog Replacement Sidewind Gear Kit, part # BD5002581360, is the gear kit that will fit the Bulldog series 190 sidewind jack with a 7,000-lb capacity and a 5/8 inch inside diameter bottom gear.
If you have a Bulldog series 190 sidewind jack that has a 8,000-lb capacity and a 1/2 inch inside diameter bottom gear you will need the Bulldog Replacement Sidewind Gear Kit, part # BD500156.
The sidewind crank you will need is the Bulldog Replacement Sidewind Handle, part # BD500171. It will fit both jacks.
If you need the lower thrust bearing for the 8,000-lb jack it will use the Bulldog Replacement Thrust Bearing, part # BD500224. The 7,000-lb jack will use a different size thrust bearing that we do not stock. If you have the 7,000-lb capacity jack and need the thrust bearing I can special order it and have it added to our website.
If you let me know what size jack you have I will be glad to help you find the correct parts or if you need to replace the jack I will help you get the correct size.
