Is Heatshield Re-Installed On 2017 BMW 328d XDrive Sports Wagon When Installing Trailer Hitch
Question:
Hi, I understand that the heat shield may need to be removed as part of the installation process. But can it be fully re-installed? And are there any other permanent alterations needed for install, or can it be fully removed and the car restored to original condition? thanks

The installation instructions for the Curt # C11367 trailer hitch shows in step 2 that the heatshield is removed. In step 8 the instructions say to reverse steps 1 through 5.
I called my contact at Curt and although the instructions do not mention modifying or trimming the heatshield, they told me that the heatshield is re-installed but you may need to do a little trimming or adding a hole in the heatshield.
