Hitch for 2010 Toyota Highlander That Allows Use of Weight Distribution

Question:

I purchased the Curt Class III hitch for a 2010 Toyota Highlander. Just noticed today that it is not rated for weight distribution systems. Im not looking to increase the capacity but can one be used to just level the system?

With Curt 2-inch hitch # 13534 which fits your 2010 Toyota Highlander you cannot use a weight distribution/sway control system, even if you remain with the hitch's nominal weight rating. The reason is that all such system do put additional torsional forces on the hitch tube. Even if you stay within the hitch rating the forces applied are too much for this particular hitch. I confirmed with my contact at Curt.

Instead, the Draw-Tite hitch # 75726 will allow use of WD/SC. Do note that even with this hitch using WD/SC does NOT increase the hitch weight capacity.
