The first thing you must do is make sure you have around 5"-6" of clearance between the bed rails on your truck to the bottom side of the trailer. This can be accomplished by either lowering the pin box or raising the 5th wheel hitch. Based on the provided measurements, this will cause your trailer to sit nose high therefore you will then need to adjust the rear of the trailer to sit level with the truck if possible. If you truck has a lift kit or oversized tires, you may be able to look into lowering the truck instead.

To gain clearance between the 5th wheel and bed rails of the truck, there are a few things you can try. For starters, you will want to ensure the 5th wheel hitch is at its highest setting. Many 5th wheel hitches have various adjustment points to which the arms will mount to in order to give you the proper height. The next step you can take would involve placing the pin box at it's highest setting if possible.

If you need a taller 5th wheel hitch, I recommend the Curt A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16541.The Curt hitch will provide you with 21-1/2" of rise.

Once the bed sidewall clearance issue is addressed, you may then want to raise the rear of the trailer to achieve a level towing surface between your truck and trailer. To do this, you could install new leaf spring hangers or an axle over-under conversion kit. For this, you will need the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit part # K71-384-00 for 2-3/8" axles and part # K71-385-00 for 3" axles. You could also use a different leaf spring hanger.
