How to Convert 4-Way to 7-Way on 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

Question:

My jeep came with a 4-way two package wiring kit. My boat trailer, which has brakes, requires 5-way wiring. I currently just plug the 5-way into the 4 in order to have functioning lights, but the blue wire for the brakes is not connected to anything and I would like to properly fix this issue for obvious reasons. What do I need to purchase?

Since you have a boat trailer that has a 5-way most likely the fifth circuit is for a reverse lockout which allows the trailer to back up when in reverse. Or it is possible the fifth circuit is for a brake controller circuit either way the adapter you need to start with is the part # 20036 which give you a fifth circuit to attach to on your vehicle.

If it's for a reverse lockout the blue wire goes to the reverse lights of the vehicle. If it's for a brake controller it needs to go to a brake output circuit of a controller like the P2 part # 90885.
