The Sidewinder couplers are custom designed to replace the standard king pins on fifth wheel trailers, like your 36 foot Montana fifth wheel trailer, so you will need to find out the part number of the pin box (king pin) on your trailer.

The pin box number is either on a sticker on the pin box or it will be stamped on the pin box itself. If it is not there or is worn off you will have to contact the trailer manufacturer with the VIN or serial number so they can provide you with the pin box number.

If you will get the make and part number of your pin box on your fifth wheel, I can recommend a compatible Sidewinder, or you can use the chart on the Sidewinder FAQ page that is in the link I am including.

The Sidewinder couplers will work well with all fifth wheel hitches, except for the following hitches:

- Curt Q5 and A-series Fifth Wheel Hitch
- PullRite Super Glide
- Reese Trail Boss Fifth Wheel Head
- B&W Fifth Wheel Hitches
- Colibert 208BW
- Hi-Rise (Draw-Tite #9480, Bulldog #9481)
- Any other fifth wheel adapter that connects to a gooseneck ball

When using a Sidewinder with a sliding hitch on your 2010 Dodge Ram 3500 short bed you need to make sure that you do not use the slide option when the trailer, with installed Sidewinder, is hooked up. Sliding the king pin back with the Sidewinder attached can cause the pin weight to be too far back on the vehicle which causes unsafe conditions such as reduced steering performance and overloading of the rear suspension.
