Recommended Roof Rack For Bike Rack And Basket On 2005 Mazda 3

Question:

I drive a 2005 5-door Mazda 3. I am moving across the country, and looking to add a roof rack for my bikeand additionally a basket or box for the other side. Do you have suggestions for the best fit/best combo for my money? My car has no existing rails or crossbars. Thanks!

For your 2005 Mazda 3 5-door, I recommend the Rhino-Rack roof rack that includes:
Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars - Aluminum - Black - 46" Long - Qty 2 # RRVA118B-2, the 2500 Series Legs for Vortex Aero Crossbars - Naked Roofs or Fixed Mounting Points - Qty 4 # RRRLKVA, and Custom DK Fit Kit for Rhino-Rack 2500 Series Roof Rack Legs - Naked Roof # DK041. I also recommend the Rhino-Rack Locking Endcaps for Vortex Aero Crossbars - Metal Cores - Qty 4 # RRVA-LEC4 to secure your accessories.

If you have fixed mounting points on your roof, I recommend the Thule Roof Rack consisting of the Thule Wingbar Evo Crossbars for Fixed Mounting Points/Flush, Factory Side Rails - Aluminum - Black # TH711220, Rapid Podium Feet for Thule Crossbars # TH460R and Thule Fit Kit for Podium Style Foot Pack, # THKIT3069.

For a bike rack, I recommend the Rhino-Rack Hybrid Roof Bike Rack - Wheel Mount - Clamp On - Aluminum # RRRBC050 along with the Top Channel Mounting Kit for Rhino-Rack Hybrid Roof Bike Carrier # RRRBCA034 which will work with Rhino-Rack or Thule Crossbars.

For a basket, I recommend the Yakima LoadWarrior Roof Rack Cargo Basket with Extension Kit # Y07070-74 which will allow you to carry your accessories on the top of the basket, but may interfere with hatch fully opening.
