Recommended Slider 5th Wheel Hitch for Use in Curt X5 Adapter in 2016 Ford F-350 Shortbed
Question:
I have the BandW turn ball in my 2016 Ford F350 crew cab short bed. I also have the Curt 16310 X5 5th Wheel Adapter. Which would be a better choice for a 5th wheel slider hitch, the Pro square tube slider or the Patriot? What is the weight on each of them? I purposely didnt go with the Companion because it weighs so much.

The B&W Patriot Slider hitch # BWRVK3270 has a shipping weight of 221-lbs, compared to the Companion Slider # BWRVK3400 which is 281-lbs.
Although the B&W Companion 5th Wheel hitch # BWRVK3400 does weigh a good bit, thanks to its superior construction, using it in the B&W turnover ball setup will give you better towing performance than a standard slider hitch used in the Curt X5 adapter. By eliminating that additional component you will reduce rattle and play in the system.
But if you application requires a lighter-weight hitch along with the X5 I recommend the Pro Series # PS30121 over the Patriot. The Patriot is a great hitch but it isn't compatible with the X5 because it makes contact with the adapter while sliding.
