What Is The Best Way To Haul 4 Bikes On A 2011 Audi A4 Avant

Question:

I have a customer with a 2011 Audi A4 Avant. She would like a trailer hitch for a bike rack on her vehicle. She will need to be able to carry four bikes. But based on what I see, it looks like she is going to need a Class II trailer hitch, correct? And I do not see a Class 2 hitch offered for her vehicle. Am I correct? If so, can you help me with any other options possibly? Thank you.

Yes, you are correct in that the maximum number of bikes that can be attached to a bike rack on a Class I hitch receiver is two. And again yes, the only hitch receiver we have available for your 2011 Audi A4 Avant is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11195 which is a Class I hitch receiver.

Therefore, in order to haul a total of 4 bikes on your vehicle, you will need to carry two bikes on the rear of the vehicle using a hitch mounted bike rack and two bikes on the roof of the vehicle using a roof mounted bike rack. For this you will need the hitch receiver part # C11195 paired with one of our hitch mounted bike racks like the Thule Camber 2 Bike Rack part # TH9058. You will also want a roof rack system such as the Rhino-Rack Vortex part # RRVA126B-2, part # RRSX028 for roofs with factory flush mount rails or the Malone AirFlow2 Universal Roof Rack part # MPG215 for roofs with raised factory side rails. In order to carry the additional two bikes you will also need a roof mounted bike top carrier like the Rhino-Rack MountainTrail Rooftop Bike Carrier part # RBC035.
