Which connector does your vehicle have on the rear bumper? If it's the 4 pole flat connector, you'll need the Brake Controller 7 & 4 Way Installation Kit - 10 Gauge, part # ETBC7, hardwired brake controller installation kit.
I have attached installation instructions for the # ETBC7 below.
Your 4 pole connector will plug into the 7 way connector included in the kit, and you will run a brake wire up to the cab for the controller, as well as a 12V feed to the battery via a 40 amp circuit breaker included in the kit.
When installing the controller, the red wire would attach to the cold side of the brake stop light switch. The blue wire would attach to the brake wire that has been run up from the connector. The white wire would be grounded to the negative battery pole, and the black wire would attach to a 12V power source via the 20 amp circuit breaker included in the install kit.
If you do have a 7-way at the rear of your Jeep then you will want to look for a blue (brake controller) wire to be stored up under the driver's side of the dash. It will be taped to the back of another harness. You will run the brake output wire from your brake controller to this wire.
The stoplight switch will be underneath the driver side dash as well. This wire is white and has a tan tracer. I would recommend using a Circuit Tester # 3808 to verify that this wire has voltage when the brake is applied and none when the brake is not being applied.
Next, you will want to run the power wire of the brake controller through a 20 or 30 amp breaker to the positive side of your battery.
Finally you will run the white wire to the negative side of your battery.
I attached a link to an installation page below that explains how to wire a vehicle for a brake controller from scratch that you might find informative below.
If you do not already have a brake controller I would recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Proportional Brake Controller, part # 90885, this controller is one of our best sellers because it is easy to use and works very well. I attached installation instructions and a installation video below for you to check out.
