What to Measure to Ensure Compatibility of Dexter Axle Over-Under Leaf Spring Conversion Kit
Question:
What can I do to ensure that this kit will work with my trailer? Obviously I assume I should measure the axle which is a single 3500lb idler axle on a utility trailer. But what else should I do to ensure this will work for my application?

Confirming that your trailer axle diameter is 2-3/8-inches is pretty much all you need to ensure proper fit and installation of the Dexter trailer spring Over-Under Kit # K71-384-00. Since the component parts in this kit do not carry a weight rating its just the axle diameter that matters.
If it turns out that your axle is actually 3-inchs in diameter then simply use the other such kit, part # K71-385-00.
Dexter recommends tack-welding the new spring seats in place. Either kit will give you a trailer height gain roughly equal to the height of your leaf spring stack plus the axle diameter.
