RV-Rated 4-Bike Hitch Racks for Use on Motorhome
Question:
I am looking for a bike rack to attach to the back of my 30foot Motorhome which can support my 50lb electric bike as well as 3 other smaller bikes for my family. Can you recommend any product out there?

Hitch-mounted bike racks that are rated for use on a motorhome are built with the strength needed for the greater stress forces found at the rear of motorhomes and trailers. This extra stress results from the greater distance between the rear axle and hitch on such vehicles, as compared to that distance on a typical passenger car. That greater distance becomes greater leverage on the hitch. RV-rated racks with a 4-bike capacity are shown on the linked page.
The Swagman Trailhead # S63381, the Original # S64400 and the XP # S64940 are all 4-bike racks with a nominal 35-lb-per-bike weight rating. Provided that your 50-lb electric bike is loaded first, on the innermost position, AND the total bike load remains within the racks' total capacity you can use one of these carriers. If you can remove the electric bike's battery to reduce its weight this is strongly recommended. Always load the bikes in weight order, heavier ones first.
