We have a 2015 Ram 2500 Big Horn 4/4 and a 2017 Open Range Light 321BHTS Travel Trailer - what is the best sway prevention for this setup?

The most effective sway control options are those that are built into Weight Distribution (WD) systems. Even though there are just sway control options via a friction bar, like part # 83660, I really don't recommend going with one because you have to remove the bar just to back up your trailer.

Since you have a brand new trailer I recommend driving it a little bit before purchasing a sway control since you might not even need one once you have your trailer loaded with all of your gear.

If you do need a sway control solution the best one that we currently have to offer is the Reese Strait-Line WD system, like part # RP66084. The thing that makes this WD system great is that it has built in sway prevention which will help to prevent your trailer from swaying before it starts instead of correcting the sway after it has started. Since it looks like you have a limited amount of tongue space I recommend using the Chain Hangers # RP58305 which will bolt onot the side of the tongue and have a Tongue Weight (TW) of 1,400 lbs and a GTW of 14,000 lbs.

Keep in mind that when choosing a WD system you will want to pick one that has a Total Tongue Weight (TTW) that falls in the middle of the WD systems. The TTW of your setup can be found by adding the TW of your fully loaded and ready-to-go trailer plus the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your 2012 Ram 2500.

If you can let me know what the TTW of your setup is after you determine whether or not you still need sway control I would be happy to make a recommendation for you.

I have attached a few articles on towing and weight distribution that you can check out.
