How to Install Tow Ready 4-Pole to 5-Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter 20036

Question:

I have a 2014 Honda Pilot that is wired for a 4 pole trailer. However, my boat is wired for a 5 pole. Is product #20036 a good choice as a 4 to 5 pole adapter for my Honda? Also, Ive viewed the install videos for this product that you have posted. Assuming that this product works for my vehicle, which video would be most like the install needed for my Honda? Thanks for your help.

Tow Ready 4-Pole to 5-Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter # 20036 is exactly what you need to allow your Honda Pilot with 4-pole trailer wiring to operate the reverse lockout feature on your trailer coupler. All you need to do is find a taillight wire that carries the reverse light signal. You can do this by tracing the wire to the reverse light bulbs or by testing the wires with a circuit tester like # PTW2993.

Once you find the reverse light wire simply install the extra pigtail lead included in # 20036 using the supplied quick-splice connector. That is all that is required.

This item installs in an identical manner in all vehicles so you can refer to the linked video as an example of the installation for your Pilot.
