Troubleshooting Brake Light and Turn Signal Not Working on Jayco Trailer Using Adapter # 30104
Question:
I have a 1995 Jayco pop-up trailer and only the left looking from the rear brake/ turn signal is working. No running lights or any other lights are working. What could be the problem?

On a 6-Way square trailer connector like those found on Jayco trailers you will need to use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test the signal coming out from the adapter. If it does not match how the trailer is wired, you will need to re-wire one of the connectors to match.
If everything does match up, it is most likely a bad ground. Check the ground on the vehicle side 4-Way to make sure it is attached to a clean and corrosion free bare metal surface. Make sure both the trailer side and vehicle side connectors are free of corrosion and dirt. Then, check the ground from the trailer side connector. Finally, check the grounds at the offending lights. Trailer lights often ground through the mounting studs.
