Troubleshooting Trailer Running Light Circuit that Doesnt Activate with 12 Volts to Lights
Question:
Hi, On my Boat trailer I have the turn signals and brake lights working but no running lights or side markers. I have a light tester and it shows that there is power at the brown wire on the back of my vehicle. The ground is currently attached to the bolt that holds the coupler on the trailer. Im thinking maybe this isnt a good spot for it and maybe I need to just use a small screw instead.

I would try improving the ground like you mentioned. Ideally you would run the ground wire from the light assembly all the way back to the main ground circuit of the trailer harness. Doing this or even finding a better spot to ground the wire should solve the problem.
