For your 2003 Oldsmobile Alero, I recommend the Draw-Tite Class II Frame Receiver Hitch # 36288. This hitch is custom-fit for your vehicle and will provide a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening with a 300 pound tongue weight and 3,500 pound towing weight capacity. I also recommend checking the towing capacity of your vehicle as listed in the owner's manual, as this will likely be the limiting factor.
No drilling is required for installation and all the necessary hardware is included. I have attached the installation details for you to look through.
If you plan on doing any towing, I recommend the Tekonsha Upgraded Circuit Protected Tail Light Converter Hardwire Kit # 119178KIT in order to install a 4-way connector needed to power your trailer's signal lights. This kit includes a circuit tester and 5 quick splices to aid in installation.
Then for a ball mount I recommend looking at the Draw-Tite Class II Drawbar # 36071. This ball mount has a 2-5/8 inch rise or 3-1/4 inch drop. I have attached an article that will help you determine the correct rise or drop needed to tow your trailer level as well as a link that will take you to our available selection of ball mounts.
