Will Curt TriFlex Electric Brake Controller Work with Curt 7-Way Trailer Connector with Test Lights
Question:
Hi, I am looking at the Curt Adaptor 4 pole to 7 pole w/Test Lamps Item # C57674 as well as the Curt Triflex Trailer Brake Controller Item # C24VV. There is a note on the brake controller that says: If your vehicles 7-Way trailer connector has LED test lights built into it, the TriFlex brake controller will not be compatible. Can you please confirm if the Curt Adaptor with test lamps is also NOT compatible with the Curt brake controller? Thank you

Expert Reply:
Trailer connectors that have test lights like the Curt # C57674 will sometimes cause an electric brake controller like the TriFlex # C24VV to believe a trailer is plugged in. The controller is sensitive enough to the test lights. The TriFlex will actually work just fine as long as you know that it will always think a trailer is present.
If your 2006 Jeep Liberty already has a 4-way connector use # 5506 for the wiring to install the TriFlex with the Curt 7-way.
If you'd rather not use the Curt 7-way because of the tester lights instead you can use our # ETBC7 kit which includes the 7-way and all the wiring to convert it from the 4-way.
