How To Install A 4-Flat To 7-Way Wiring Harness Adapter On Your Vehicle
Question:
Looking for a trailer harness 7way plug for a 2011 Nissan Pathfinder. Would prefer one that has both 4 and 7 way connectors like the Hopkins connectors. Thanks

In order to install a 4-flat and 7-way wiring harness on your 2011 Nissan Pathfinder, you will want an adapter if you already have a factory 4-way trailer connector or a complete wiring harness if you do not have a trailer wiring harness at all.
If you currently have a 4-way harness installed on the vehicle, I recommend the Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole part # 37185. The new adapter will plug into your existing 4-way and will require you to run an additional 4 wires. The first wire you will need to run is the ground (white wire). The next wire you will have to install is the brake controller (blue wire) which is located on a black pigtail mounted to the frame near the factory 4-way connector. You will also need to run the power (black wire) to a 12 volt source which is also located on the black pigtail attached to the frame. The auxiliary (purple wire) will only need to be ran if applicable.
If you do not have a factory 4-way harness installed on your vehicle, you will need a wiring harness such as the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118266. You will also have to replace the 7 way connector in this kit with the Hopkins Endurance Connector part # HM40950 to retain both 4-flat and 7-way connections.
I have attached a few review/installation videos in addition to our 7-way wiring diagram for your viewing.
