Compatibility of Full-Size Spare Tire with Hitch Installations on 2017 Dodge Durango AWD
Question:
I am looking at curt hitch for my 17 Durango AWD. I see where the drawtite brand says its fine with the full size spare under the back of it. I was wondering if the curt is ok to use with the full size spare under there as well? Thanks. #13182

In our Tech Tip for 2-inch Class III Curt hitch # C13182 we do note that a full-size spare tire will NOT fit after hitch installation. Please refer to the linked page.
When you factor in the higher weight rating of the Draw-Tite hitch option # 75713 and the freedom from the requirement to use a support strap # 18050 for non-trailer loads like bike racks, then the Draw-Tite becomes the better choice.
