Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver And Towing Components For 2016 Ford Edge Titanium
Question:
Two-part question: I am installing a Draw-Tite hitch on my 2016 Ford Edge Titanium. Does the removal of the heat shield void the warranty in any way? And have there been any safety concerns about leaving the heat shield off? According to your installation video which is very helpful it appears the heat shield is not replaced after installing the hitch.? Thank you for your help in this matter.

Installing the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 75234 on your 2016 Ford Edge Titanium should not void your warranty even if you are removing the heat shield. There is enough air flow that there are not any safety concerns leaving this heat shield off. Trimming and replacing or removing is a preference.
If you will be towing with this receiver, I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118677. This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your Ford Edge's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will run a hot lead to the battery to power this ModuLite to avoid overloading your vehicle's electrical system. I've attached an article to assist with running that power wire.
For your ball mount, I recommend the B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 5" Drop, 5-1/2" Rise - 7.5K - Black # BWTS10038B. This is an adjustable ball mount that will let you tow a variety of trailers level. It comes with two hitch ball sizes of 1-7/8 inch and 2 inch. It has a really nice stowable feature that allows you to have a clean look when the ball is not in use and protects your shins when loading or unloading cargo.
These components will complete your towing setup on your 2016 Ford Edge Titanium.
