Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe and etrailer Cargo Carrier e98874
Question:
Hello: Can this be installed on a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe? If yes, what type of hitch do I need to have installed to accommodate the basket? Thanks!

Absolutely! You can use the etrailer folding cargo carrier # e98874 with your 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe. You will just need a Class III, 2 inch trailer hitch. For a hitch I recommend Draw-Tite hitch # 75684 if your Santa Fe has a single exhaust pipe or Curt hitch # C13073 if it has dual exhaust.
With the hitch installed the carrier will clear the back of your Santa Fe when folded down or up. I have linked videos of the carrier and both hitches for you. Please note that if you need to use the Curt trailer hitch Curt requires the use of stabilization strap # 18050 when using the hitch for any non-trailer load (such as a cargo carrier) per the Curt warranty requirements.
I also recommend a locking anti-rattle hitch pin, # e99047, to not only secure the carrier in the hitch but to also limit movement of it in the hitch and deter theft.
