2017 Toyota Sequoia Sits Low With Trailer Connected

Question:

I have a 2017 Toyota Sequoia and Im towing a 25foot Coachmen Travel Trailer. The rear suspension seems to ride lower than Id like and a friend advised me to get Timbren rubber springs. Please help me ID the right ones. Thank you.

As of right now (May 2017) the only confirmed Air Helper Springs for your 2017 Toyota Sequoia are the Air Lift # AL60826 and # AL60786. There are no options from Timbren as of yet.

Before investing in a suspension system what I recommend doing is making sure that your trailer is loaded appropriately. The Tongue Weight (TW) of your trailer should be 10-15 percent of the total weight of the trailer itself. If your trailer were to weight, say 5,000 lbs, then your TW should be between 500-750 lbs. If you haven't loaded your trailer properly, by adjusting the weight so that you have the correct tongue weight you will see some of that squat start to go away.

If you have loaded it correctly then you can either go with a suspension air bag system or a weight distribution system. I recommend using a weight distribution system because it will fix the squat you are seeing by distributing the tongue weight among the axles of your Sequoia and trailer combined. A weight distribution will help to control trailer sway that you might experience while driving. Should you decide to use a weight distribution system, if you could tell me what the weight of your loaded and ready-to-go trailer is plus the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your Sequoia then I can make some recommendations for you.
