For your 2001 Dodge Ram, I recommend you utilize your rear trailer hitch versus a front hitch and half of a roof rack. It sounds a little strange but if you put one crossbar on the roof and then used the Yakima LongArm Truck Bed Load Extender # Y01149, you could not only carry 2 kayaks but the T-Load will also help with lifting or lowering them.
For the roof rack, I recommend using the SeaSucker Monkey Bars Roof Rack - Vacuum Cup Mount - 48" Long # 298-SX6000B as this is the only rack system that fits your truck.
I recommend using the SUP and Surfboard Pads for SeaSucker Monkey Bars # 298-SA1022 to protect your kayaks.
