Installation of Hopkins Towed Vehicles Wiring Kit on a 2017 Jeep Cherokee Overland

will the HM56208 wiring kit work on my 2017 Jeep Cherokee Overland that does have the 7 and 4 pin trailer wiring harness? How do I get the plug disconnected from the tail light assembly?

The Hopkins Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # HM56208 is confirmed to fit all models of the 2017 Jeep Cherokee so it will work great on your Overland.

The harness plugs in behind the tail lights, like you said. You'll need to remove both tail lights by removing the clips. You'll need to open the tail gate to access this. Then the tail light assemblies will disconnect from the Jeep. Behind them are the plugs for each light which have connectors that will mate with the Hopkins harness.

If you need the extension loop to connect the Jeep to your RV it's part # HM47115.
