Recommended Coupler Style for 1956 Spartan Royal Mansion Trailer
Question:
Hello! I have a 1956 Spartan royal mansion 37foot foot model. I would like to replace my hitch coupler and jack. What is the difference in the traditional style coupler and the ones with a collar lock? Which is more reliable for long trips? Do you have any recommendations? I will be towing it across the country from San Fran to Tampa bay Florida. I already have purchased a stabilizer system from you, and it turned my truck and trailer into a Cadillac! Thanks!

A collar lock coupler like the Bulldog # BD028499 is going to be generally easier to operate and less likely to have latching difficulties because of the larger moving parts. With a collar style coupler, it is easier to visually confirm when the coupler is properly secured around the hitch ball. Because of this, I do recommend a collar lock style, but it is really mostly a matter of personal preference. Either style will be reliable for long trips and will work great on your 1956 Spartan Royal Mansion Trailer. I have attached a video demonstration on this coupler so you can get a better idea as to how it works.
I have attached a link that will take you to our available selection of trailer couplers for you to look through.
