Something to take into consideration when picking a Weight Distribution (WD) system would be the Total Tongue Weight (TTW) of your towing setup.
The TTW can be found by adding the Tongue Weight (TW) of your loaded and ready-to-go trailer plus the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. You will then want to pick out a WD system with a weight range that your TTW falls in the middle of.
If you have added that together and it is the 250-300 lbs that you mentioned then one of the best WD systems that we currently have to offer is the Reese Strait-Line WD System part # RP66082 which has a weight range of 200-600 lbs. This WD system uses a dual-cam sway control that works to prevent sway before it starts.
With this WD system you will need a hitch ball like part # A-90 which has a diameter if 2 inches.
If you have limited space on your trailer tongue you can use the Chain Hangers # RP58305 which will bolt onto your trailer tongue and help you work with limited space.
