Recommended Hitch Receiver and Adjustable Ball Mount for 2004 Ford Ranger

Question:

I have a 04 Ranger FX4 and will get a hitch. The trailer I will use is level when the ball hitch is about 8inch below the bumper hitch that currently is on the rear bumper. If I get a new hitch, will it be low enough to give me a level pull, or will I need an adapter to lower the ball slightly? Thank you.

For your 2004 Ford Ranger, I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 75082. This will give you a sturdy hitch with an easy bolt-on installation. The 2 inch receiver will give you more options of accessories and a higher rated hitch for towing capacity and tongue weight.

For your 2 inch receiver I recommend using the Convert-a-Ball Adjustable-Height Ball Mount # TK5007. This will allow you to use a 2 inch ball like # 63845 or a # 19260 for a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball. This will give you adjustability to tow level. You will need a pin and clip like # PC3 or a locking pin like # e98880 for added security.

I've attached an article to help.
