Weight Distribution System Recommendation for Camper that Weighs 8,550 lbs

Question:

What determines the TW rating? I see that the 10,000 comes with a 600 or 800, My camper weighs 8550 and have always heard 10 on the TW 1000. Whats the difference between the 600, 800 or 1000 as far as the set is concerned.

Tongue weight is typically 10-15 percent of the total trailer weight. It used to be assumed that it was going to be always 10 percent but that's not always the case. Also, if you can get the tongue weight to be right at 10-15 percent the trailer is going to ride the best.

For a trailer that weighs a total of 8,550 lbs you would be looking at a tongue weight range of most likely 850 to 1,200 lbs. For a weight distribution system that fits that range well we have the Strait Line system part # RP66084 which has a range of 800-1,200 lbs and features only sway control to work to fight sway before it starts.

For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.
