Why are 5.30-12 Sized Trailer Tires Heating Up Excessively on a Short Trip
Question:
I have purchased tires from etrailer in the past. On my boat trailer, I have 2 of 5.30-12 tires, Load Star and a Deestone, both rated Load C and for 1,050 lbs. Tires get pretty hot even after a short trip. Should I be concerned? If these tires are inadequate, please recommend appropriate tires.

Expert Reply:
If the tires are getting too hot there's a few things to consider. Things like the overloading the tires or trailer, not inflating them to their maximum psi, or exceeding their speed rating will cause the tires to built up too much heat. I also don't recommend having two different tires on the trailer. Even though they're the same size and rating doesn't mean all is created equal.
If you need replacement tires we have # AM10066 that are 5.30-12 sized tires with Load Range C. They're rated for 1,045 pounds at 80 psi.
If you need to go up to a Load Range D tire we have # AM10068 rated for 1,250 pounds at 105 psi.
