Recommended Bunk Boards For Boat Trailer To Support 16-Ft Deep V Boat

Question:

Hello, I just ordered the CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies for my trailer. It currently has keep rollers and vertical 3foot bunks at the transom. I realized this weekend that the bunks are not sufficient for a 16 ft. deep V boat. My question is, should the keel rollers or the bunks take the weight of the boat?j Thanks!

Expert Reply:

The weight of the boat on your trailer should be shared by the keel rollers and the bunks. All of the weight should not be placed on either the rollers or the bunks.

It sounds like you have bunks that are just too short for your boat size. I recommend adding additional bunks like part # CE27800 to your trailer so all of the weight does not fall on the keel rollers. To support the bunks I also recommend the bracket assemblies like part # CE10196G-4.
